SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - With four runners finishing in the top 20, the Western New England College men's cross-country team captured top honors at its own WNEC Invitational Saturday (Oct. 17) during Family & Friends Weekend.
Both WNEC and AIC finished with 74 points, but the top spot went to the Golden Bears based on a higher finish by their number six runner. Castleton took third in the 12-team field with 92 points.
Sophomore
Jeff Wagner (Norwalk, CT) led the Golden Bears by placing eighth among 99 runners with a time of 28 minutes, 2 seconds over the 8,000-meter campus course.
Senior co-captain
Tucker Jones (Bowdoin, ME) was 14th (28:54).
Junior
Glen McManus (Watertown, MA) took 16th (28;58) while sophomore
Jamel Lattimore (Hialeah, FL) was 17th (28:59).
AIC sophomore
Victor Kemboi cruised to the individual title (25:03) with classmate
Julien Devanne second (26:13).
