Hannah Laviolette and Brendon Thompson named Western New England College Athletes-of-the-Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman Hannah Laviolette (Three Rivers, MA) and Brendon Thompson (Enfield, CT) were honored Wednesday (Oct. 21) as the Western New England College Female and Male Athletes-of-the-Week.
Laviolette, a member of the women’s cross-country team, was the Golden Bears’ top finisher at the WNEC Invitational after placing 22nd among 136 runners with a time of 21 minutes, 37.1 seconds over the 5,000-meter course campus course. She is an Elementary Education major.
Thompson, a member of the football squad, tied a NCAA Division III record by returning two kickoffs for touchdowns in a 59-21 win over MIT. He opened the game with an 89-yard return for his first collegiate TD, and then added a 79-yard score with 3:21 left in the second period to give the Golden Bears a 38-7 halftime lead. Thompson is an Exploratory Business major.
