Jeff Wagner leads Western New England College at UMass Dartmouth Shriners' Invitational
Sophomore sets new school record for five-miles

NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. - Western New England College sophomore Jeff Wagner (Norwalk, CT) enjoyed a top performance at the UMass Dartmouth Shriners' Men's Cross-Country Invitatiional Saturday (Sept. 19).
Wagner toured the 5-mile course in a new school-record time of 26 minutes, 58 seconds (a 5.24 mile pace) to finish a respectable 91st among 262 competitors.
"Jeff shattered the school record by 32 seconds and is our first runner ever to break 27 minutes, which is a huge milestone," said Western New England College coach Brian Walsh. "This was our best team performance in the history of our program. We had nine runners under 30 minutes with an average time for our top five of 18 minutes, 16 seconds."
The Golden Bears' next two finishers were senior co-captain Tucker Jones (Bowdoin, ME) (28:19) and junior Glen McManus (Watertown, MA) (28:20).
In the team competition, WNEC placed 24th among 37 schools.
