Worcester, Mass. native hit .533 with three steals, four RBI and five runs in 3-1 week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 16, 2018) – For the second consecutive week and third time in his career, junior center fielder Erik Lacaire (Worcester, Mass.) of the Western New England University baseball team has been recognized as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Lacaire hit .533 (8-for-15) with a .556 on-base percentage and a .600 slugging percentage in a 3-1 week for the Golden Bears. He walked twice, stole three bases, drove in four runs, and scored five while posting a pair of multi-hit efforts.
Lacaire opened his week by going 1-for-3 with a walk and one RBI in a 9-5 victory over Westfield State on Wednesday.
In Thursday's 11-2 win over Eastern Connecticut, he went 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, two steals and three runs scored. The junior then compiled three hits and three RBI during Western New England's doubleheader split with No. 20 Endicott on Saturday.
In 24 games this season, the St. Peter Marian product is hitting .361 with seven doubles, 25 RBI and 27 runs scored. He has also recorded one triple and two home runs while walking eight times and stealing 18 bases (2nd in CCC).
Western New England (19-5, 5-1 CCC) begins an eight-game week with a CCC doubleheader at Roger Williams on Tuesday.
