SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 1, 2019) – Senior outfielder Ben LaCroix (Branford, Conn.) of the Western New England University baseball team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
LaCroix had a big week at the plate, batting .389 (7-for-18) with a .522 on-base percentage and a .667 slugging percentage as the Golden Bears went 4-1 in five games.
He had three extra base hits with two doubles and a grand slam, while driving in 11 runs and scoring eight. In Thursday's 20-8 victory over No. 23 UMass Boston, LaCroix went 2-for-5 with two doubles and four RBI. Then on Saturday, LaCroix posted a combined 4-for-8 effort with a grand slam and six RBI as the Golden Bears registered a pair of 13-3 wins over Gordon at Trelease Park.
Western New England (10-6, 4-0 CCC) hosts Elms on Monday before traveling to Keene State on Wednesday.
