Dover, N.H. native connected on career-long 44-yard field goal in Friday's win at Westfield State
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 9, 2017) – Sophomore kicker Kieran Lombard (Dover, N.H.) of the Western New England University football team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sunday.
Lombard earns this honor for the first time after connecting on a career-long 44-yard field goal as time expired in the first half of Western New England's eventual 38-6 victory at Westfield State on Friday night.
The field goal, which gave the Golden Bears a 31-0 lead heading into halftime, is tied for the eighth-longest in Division III this season.
A 2016 graduate of Dover High School, Lombard played two years of football and four years of soccer, ice hockey and lacrosse for the Green Wave. He earned All-State honors in football and owns the school record with a 47-yard field goal.
Western New England (1-1) will be on the road this Saturday for the program's first ever matchup at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Opening kickoff is set for 12 p.m.
