Hoff, Chirco & Davis recognized following Saturday's 41-14 victory over Endicott

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (October 15, 2017) –
After leading Western New England University to a 41-14 victory over Endicott College on Saturday, three Golden Bears have earned weekly awards from Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football), the league office announced on Sunday morning.

Sophomore running back Peter Hoff (Shelton, Conn.) was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while junior linebacker Mike Chirco (Weedsport, N.Y.) collected Defensive Player of the Week accolades and sophomore kick returner/wing Damond Davis (Springfield, Mass.) earned Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.

Hoff enjoyed a breakout performance against the Gulls, as he ran for a career-high 115 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries (7.2 avg.). With the Golden Bears leading 17-0 in the second quarter, he broke free for a 49-yard touchdown run down the sideline. Hoff later scored on a one-yard plunge in the third quarter to make it 34-7.

Through six games this season, Hoff ranks fourth in CCC Football with 287 yards and tied for third with five touchdowns.

Chirco collects Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season, after being recognized on October 1 following his 17-tackle performance against St. Lawrence. The junior finished with a team-high 11 stops on Saturday, and also recorded one of Western New England's five takeaways with his second quarter fumble recovery.

Chirco's 59 tackles this fall lead the Golden Bears and rank fourth in the conference.

A product of Springfield's Putnam Vocational-Technical High School, Davis earns CCC Football honors for the first time in his career with his selection as Special Teams Player of the Week. The sophomore set the tone for the Golden Bears on Saturday, as he returned the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown.

Davis leads CCC Football with 28.3 yards per return on eight kick returns this fall.

Western New England (4-2, 1-0 CCC Football) will be on the road at Becker College next Saturday for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
