Fedorchak named Offensive POW, Lombard receives Special Teams POW recognition
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (September 16, 2019) – Junior wide receiver Steven Fedorchak (Guilderland, N.Y.) and senior kicker Kieran Lombard (Dover, N.H.) of the Western New England University football team were both recognized with weekly Commonwealth Coast Football awards, the league office announced on Sunday.
Fedorchak received his first CCC Offensive Player of the Week honor, while Lombard earned his second straight CCC Special Teams Player of the Week award following Western New England's 56-35 triumph over Westfield State University on Friday night.
Fedorchak established new program records for receiving yards (319) and receiving touchdowns (five) while making a career-high nine catches. He needed just one quarter to break the previous school records of 183 yards and three touchdowns. The junior hauled in touchdown receptions of 53, 69, 69 and 35 yards in the opening period, before adding another 35-yard score in the second quarter.
Lombard went a perfect 8-for-8 on extra-point attempts and made a pair of kickoff return tackles en route to his second straight and third career Special Teams Player of the Week award.
Western New England (2-0) travels to DeLand, Florida on Saturday night to take on Division I FCS program Stetson University at 6 p.m.
