Zogby ties for fifth place with 36-hole score of 152
BREWSTER, Mass. (October 22, 2018) – The Western New England University men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of its schedule with a sixth place finish at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship following round two action on Monday at The Captains Golf Course.
The Golden Bears, who were tied for fifth place after Sunday's opening round 317, improved their score by two strokes today and finished with a total of 632. Babson College won the team title with scores of 313 and 300 (613), while Williams (614), Middlebury (618), Husson (627) and Nichols (628) rounded out the top five.
Middlebury's Reid Buzby was the medalist with a 36-hole score of 145. He shot an even par 72 today after carding a one-over 73 in round one.
Western New England was again led by sophomore Ryan Zogby (New Hartford, N.Y.), who finished in a three-way tie for fifth place in the 113-golfer field. Zogby followed up his opening round 75 with a 77 in round two on his way to a combined score of 152.
Freshman Andrew Crean (Victor, N.Y.) climbed from 26th into a tie for 19th place after shooting matches scores of 79 and finishing with a 36-hole score of 158.
Sophomore Kade Howard (Ludlow, Mass.), who was in 73rd place following his opening round 85, improved by six strokes (79) today en route to a 54th place performance.
Sophomore Tyler Sinacola (North Attleboro, Mass.) also had a better showing in round two as he posted a score of 80 today after recording an 86 on Sunday. Sinacola's combined total of 166 placed him in a tie for 68th place.
Sophomore Cameron Cox (Bowdoinham, Maine) finished in a tie for 72nd with a 36-hole score of 167 (78+89).
Western New England's 2018-19 campaign will resume in April when the spring season gets underway. The Golden Bears are slated to host the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship April 27-28.
