Kolins also serves on the City of Springfield Duggan Middle School Governing Board.
Kolins commended the College and students for being such a big part in why she is so deeply involved.

I cannot express how much this award means to me, especially because it symbolizes the ideals of Western New England College and there is no place more special than here.”

Candidates of the Golden Bear Award must exhibit the following criteria:
- Strong sense of caring
- Encourage students to excellence
- Be committed to student success
- Demonstrate a student centered approach to his/her work
- Articulate student needs with a strong and consistent voice
- Has exceeded job expectations in service to students
In addition to coaching, Kolins is the school's CHAMPS/Life Skills Co-Coordinator, Community Outreach Coordinator, WNEC Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Co-Advisor, Class of 2010 Advisor, The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) SAAC Advisor, and TCCC Men’s Tennis Chair.
