Western New England College senior Alex Boutin named to ESPN the Magazine District 1 Academic Team

2008alexboutingifSPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Western New England College men's tennis standout Alex Boutin (Bristol, CT) was named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division District 1 Men's Large Academic Team on Thursday (May 21).

Boutin, who served as a team co-captain this past season, compiled a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade-point-average in Mechanical Engineering. He received his bachelor's degree on May 16.

Earlier this month, Boutin was selected both The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Men's Tennis and WNEC Senior Scholar Athlete-of-the-Year.

Boutin, the number one player on the Golden Bears' squad this spring, compiled a 74-37 record (40-18 in singles, 34-19 in doubles) (66.7 winning percentage) during his career.

He also was a two-time All-TCCC perofmer and Western New England College MVP.

Boutin was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Athlete Honor Society last year and was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar-Athlete.

Western New England College posted a 38-22 record (63.3%) during Boutin's four years on the team.
