Barber leads Western New England with 249th place finish in 30:18.2

GORHAM, Maine (November 11, 2017) –
The Western New England University men's cross country team wrapped up its 2017 season on Saturday with a 40th place finish at the NCAA New England Regional Championships, hosted by the University of Southern Maine at Gorham Country Club. 

The Golden Bears posted a team score of 1263, good for 40th in the 54-team field. MIT won the team title with a score of 81, while Amherst (91) and Middlebury (124) placed second and third, respectively. Plymouth State junior Sam Brunnette was the first student-athlete to complete the eight-kilometer course with a time of 25:22.8.

Top Performers
• Senior Adrian Barber (Castleton, N.Y.) was the top Golden Bear finisher, as he placed 249th in the 370-runner field with a time of 30:18.2.
• Sophomore Adam Monroe (Wilton, N.Y.) clocked in at 30:28.2, good for 254th overall.
• Senior Tim Caves (Wenham, Mass.) finished 257th and earned a time of 30:33.6.
• Seniors Edwin Kaczenski (Northfield, Mass.) and Jonathan Ricciardi (Pattersonville, N.Y.) placed 260th and 273rd, respectively, with times of 30:40.6 and 31:09.8.
