Taunton, Mass. native led Golden Bears to 9-3 win over Roger Williams in CCC Tournament on Saturday
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 1, 2017) – Freshman Aimee Kistner (Taunton, Mass.) of the Western New England University softball team has earned her second straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week award, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Kistner, was also selected as the CCC Rookie of the Year last week, helped lead Western New England to a 9-3 win over Roger Williams in the Golden Bears' CCC Tournament opener on Saturday.
The freshman continued to make an impact both at the plate and in the circle, as she went 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and four runs scored while also earning the win after tossing six innings and giving up three runs on six hits. After surrendering three runs on five hits over the first two innings, Kistner proceeded to retire the next nine batters in order before working a scoreless sixth as well.
Western New England (24-9) will travel to Westfield State for a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., before resuming the CCC Tournament on Friday at Salve Regina.
