NEWTON, Mass. - Playing its first game since the holiday break, the Western New England College women's basketball team defeated host Lasell 79-66 in a non-league contest Tuesday evening (Jan. 5).
This was the third straight win for the Golden Bears who improved their record to 6-3.
Senior guard Kailah Al-Darraji (Dover, NH) led five players in double figures with 21 points. She also grabbed six rebounds and handed out four assists.
Freshman guard Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) netted 13 points in a solid performance.
Junior forward Kelly McCormick (Manchester, CT) had a big game with 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
Senior forward Caitlin Powers (Scotia, NY) and sophomore forward Sarah Proper (Coxsackie, NY) each contributed 10 points. Proper also pulled down seven rebounds.
WNEC led 39-28 at halftime and finished shooting 51% from the field after making 31-of-61 shots.
Senior forward Tricia Culver (Northampton, MA) led the Lasers with 18 points. Sophomore guard Kelsey Converse (Laconia, NH) and freshman forward Kim Archibald (Lewiston, ME) each tallied 11 points.
Lasell, which had won three of its last four outings, falls to 3-7.
Both teams last played on December 12.
