NEWTON, Mass. - Senior forward Caitlin Powers (Scotia, NY) came off the bench to score a career high 20 points to lead the Western New England College women's basketball team to a 94-60 victory over host Mount Ida Thursday evening (Dec. 10).

Powers connected on 8-of-10 shots from the floor, pulled down four rebounds, and had three assists with a blocked shot in 20 minutes.

Freshman guard Shelby Van Huysen (Killingworth, CT) added a season high 15 points and freshman center Elena Radzikowski (Medway, MA) had 10 points, both in reserve roles.

Freshman guard Emily Savino (Ellington, CT) was the fourth Golden Bears' player in double figures with 12 points. She also grabbed a game and season best eight rebounds.

Senior guard Kailah Darraji (Dover, NH) contributed nine points, matched her career high with seven assists, and had three blocks.

WNEC held a 39-29 lead at intermission and doubled its lead at 60-40 following a layup by Radzikowski with 13:53 left.

Senior forward Cherie Parisi (South Windsor, MA) led the Mustangs with 17 points while senior forward Ashley Boyd (Hanson, MA) and senior guard Nicole Casimiro (Lee, NH) each netted 10 points. Parisi and Boyd each had seven rebounds.

Western New England College (4-3) shot 51.7% from the field and made 31-of-38 free throws for an 81.6%. The Golden Bears also held a commanding 52-36 advantage off the boards.
