Cori Eggert and Katelyn Skzypiec of Western New England College gain GNAC honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Two members of the Western New England College women's swimming team gained Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) honors on Tuesday (Jan. 23).

Junior Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) was named the GNAC Women’s Swimmer-of-the-Week after winning the 50-yard backstroke (33.22 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:16.90) events in a win over Wheelock. She swam the second leg on the winning 200 freestyle relay team (1:50.73). A Math major, Eggert also was voted the Western New England College Female Athlete-of-the-Week.

Freshman Katelyn Skzypiec (Manchester, CT) was selected the GNAC Rookie-of-the-Week after placing first in the 100 backstroke (1:11.22), and second in both the 50 freestyle (28.95) and 50 butterfly (32.55) events against Wheelock. She is a Business major.

Western New England College hosts Elms at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 24) in the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
