SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England College women's swimming team defeated visiting Western Connecticut State University 136-113 for its fourth consecutive victory Friday night (Feb. 2) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
The 200 freestyle relay team of sophomore Jamie Campo (Port Jefferson, NY), senior co-captain Ashley Korbut (South Hadley, MA), junior Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ), and freshman Krista Goulet (Saco, ME) placed first with a school record time of 1 minute, 46.26 seconds.
Campo was a triple winner taking the 50 (26.87), 100 (57.97), and 200 (2:06.15) freestyle events.
Eggert won both the 50 (36.21) and 200 (2:46.35) breaststroke events.
Goulet captured both the 50 (30.65) and 200 (2:23.42) backstroke races, and placed second in the 500 freestyle (5:57.18).
The Golden Bears now have a 6-6 record.
Freshman Francecsa Testa (Cheshire, CT) won both the 200 butterfly (2:22.69) and 500 freestyle (5:00.54) events for the Colonials (4-4).
