Western New England College takes second at Blue Jay Pentathlon

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. - The Western New England College women's swimming team opened its season by finishing second among four schools at the Blue Jay Pentathlon Saturday (Oct. 28). Eastern Connecticut was first (93 points) followed by WNEC (25), host Saint Joseph College (15), and Wheelock (13).

Sophomore Jamie Campo (Port Jefferson, NY) had a big afternoon for the Golden Bears. She won the 100-yard freestyle (57.68 seconds), took second in the 100 backstroke (1:09.26), and third in both the 100 individual medley (1:10.75) and 100 butterfly (1:10.49). Campo placed third overall among 35 competitors in the combined events. 

Senior co-captain Ashley Korbut (South Hadley, MA) took fifth in the 100-butterfly (1:14.35) and seventh in the 100 individual medley (1:14.46).

Western New England College opens its home season at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 1) against WPI in the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
