SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College women’s swimming team opened its home season with a 129-117 victory over WPI Wednesday night (Nov. 1) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.
Sophomore Jamie Campo (Port Jefferson, NY) was a triple winner for the Golden Bears capturing the 200 freestyle (2 minutes, 4.98 seconds), 50-yard freestyle (26.47), and 500 freestyle (5:44.75).
Senior co-captain Ashley Korbut (South Hadley, MA) won the 100 butterfly (1:11.60) and was second in both the 1000 freestyle (12:42.11) and 500 freestyle (6:15.96).
Sophomore Katy Purdum (North Attleboro, MA) took second in both the 50 backstroke (33.81) and 100 backstroke (1:13.77).
Senior co-captain Christina Fournier (Manchester, NH) had a second place finish in the 50 breaststroke (39.81).
Western New England College visits Bridgewater State in a 2:00 p.m. start on Saturday (Nov. 4).
