Western New England College falls to Eastern Connecticut in final dual meet of season

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – In its final dual meet of the season, the Western New England College women’s swimming team fell to host Eastern Connecticut State University by the score of 138-109 Wednesday night (Feb. 7).

Freshman Krista Goulet (Saco, ME) won three events for the Golden Bears, the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.73), 200 backstroke (2:25.18), and 50 butterfly (30.51).

Sophomore Jamie Campo (Port Jefferson, NY) captured both the 200 freestyle (2:05.77) and 50 freestyle (27.24), and was second in the 500 freestyle (5:46.88).

Freshman Katelyn Skryzpiec (Manchester, CT) took first in the 200 individual medley (2:37.11) and second in the 100 freestyle (1:03.50).

The Golden Bears won the 400 freestyle relay (4:07.58) with Campo, freshman Jessica Daluise (Southborough, MA), senior co-captain Ashley Korbut (South Hadley, MA), and Goulet in the lineup.

Korbut also placed second in both the 100 butterfly (1:10.72) and 50 butterfly (31.63).

Western New England College finished the season with a 6-8 record. The Golden Bears will participate in the New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championship Feb. 16-18 in Durham, New Hampshire.
