Western New England College overpowers Saint Joseph (Conn.) for third straight win

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Western New England College women’s swimming team captured 12 of 14 events in rolling to a 126-102 victory over visiting Saint Joseph (Connecticut) Wednesday evening (Jan. 31) at the Alumni Healthful Living Center.

Junior Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) and sophomore Jamie Campo (Port Jefferson, NY) each won three events for the Golden Bears.

Eggert took first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.14), 100 freestyle (1:01.87), and 50 butterfly (30.28) events. Campo won the 200 freestyle (2:05.02), 50 freestyle (27.22), and 500 freestyle (5:41.00) races.

Freshman Krista Goulet (Saco, ME) won both the 400 individual medley (school record 5:11.11) and 100 individual medley (1:07.86).

Campo, Eggert, senior co-captain Ashley Korbut (South Hadley, MA), and Goulet swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay squad (1:50.75). Korbut also won the 50 backstroke (34.51).

Western New England College now has a 5-6 record after capturing its third consecutive victory.
