BRISTOL, R.I. - Senior Cori Eggert (Denville, NJ) and sophomore Krista Goulet (Saco, ME) each won individual events at The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Swimming & Diving Championship Saturday (Dec. 8).
Eggert, a team captain, placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 17.61 seconds) and second in the 200 breaststroke (2:47.54).
Goulet added a first-place showing in the 200 backstroke (2:24.47 for her best time of the season) and took second in the 100 backstroke (1:07.93).
Freshman Aimee Smachetti (Bristol, CT) contributed a couple of second-place performances in both the 100 butterfly (1:06.37) and 200 butterfly (2:30.49) events, which were both her fastest times of the year.
Freshman Tiffany Santilli (Southbridge, MA) competed in the 1650 freestyle event for the first time and finished fifth (21.23.90).
The Golden Bears' 400 medley relay team of Goulet, Eggert, Smachetti, and Santilli finished second (4:33.90). The same quartet also placed second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.96).
Western New England College took fourth in the team standings with 328 points in its inaugural appearance in the meet.
Host Roger Williams captured the team crown with 914.5 points followed by the University of New England (659) and Colby-Sawyer (473). Gordon was fifth (271) and Regis sixth (183.5).
