DANBURY, Conn. - The Western New England College women's swimming team captured the 200-yard medley relay in the final event of the meet for an exciting 125-120 victory over host Western Connecticut State University Friday night (Nov. 16).
Members of the winning relay squad were freshman Tiffany Santilli (Southbridge, MA), sophomore Jessica Daluise (Southboro, MA), freshman Aimee Smachetti (Bristol, CT), and sophomore Krista Goulet (Saco, ME). They posted a winning time of 1:53.73, which was almost five seconds ahead of the Colonials (1:58.41).
Goulet had a big night winning three events, the 400 individual medley (5:26.47), 50 freestyle (28.97), and 200 backstroke (2:28.51).
Also finishing first were Smachetti in the 100 freestyle (1:04.24), Santilli in the 500 freestyle (6:07.75), and sophomore Katelyn Skrzypiec (Manchester, CT) in the 100 backstroke (1:11.90).
Western New England College, who defeated Gordon last night in Springfield, improves its record to 2-1.
