Erika Sheinhait & Austin Sisco Named WNE Student-Athletes of the Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (January 18, 2016) - Sophomores Erika Sheinhait (Framingham, Mass.) of the swimming team and Austin Sisco (Denville, N.J.) of the wrestling team have been selected as the first Western New England University student-athletes of the week for the spring semester.

Sheinhait set three program records on Wednesday night as the Golden Bears returned from their five-week winter break with a 145-104 victory over Elms College at Partyka Natatorium in Chicopee. She finished first in both the 50-meter freestyle (29.63 seconds) and 100-meter freestyle (1:07.13), setting new school marks in both events, and was also a part of Western New England's record-setting 400-meter freestyle relay, which placed first and clocked in with a time of 4:48.27. All three of the records that were eclipsed were over 12 years old.

Sisco led the way for Western New England on Saturday as the Golden Bears hosted Johnson & Wales, Coast Guard, and Norwich in a quad at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. Sisco, the New England Wrestling Association's (NEWA) No. 2 ranked wrestler at 133 pounds, pinned Zach Morris of Norwich (5:25) and Dominick Summers of Coast Guard (1:06) in his first two bouts, before earning a 5-4 decision over Joe Ferinde of Johnson & Wales (ranked No. 4 by NEWA) to complete a 3-0 day.

The wrestling team will be back in action on Saturday at the NEWA Championships, hosted by Bridgewater State University, while the swimming team hosts Simmons at the Alumni Healthful Living Center Pool on Saturday as well.
