Western New England Competes at Colby-Sawyer Invitational
NEW LONDON, N.H. (December 5, 2015) - The Western New England University women's swimming team capped its first semester schedule earlier today with a fourth-place finish at the Colby-Sawyer Invitational in New London, N.H.
The University of New England claimed the team title with 506 points, followed by host Colby-Sawyer (295), Gordon College (268) and Western New England (205).
Senior Allison Ryan (Hyde Park, N.Y.) turned in the top individual performance for the Golden Bears, finishing second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:51.11) to go with fifth-place finishes in both the 400-yard individual medley (5:32.67) and 200-yard individual medley (2:32.55).
Freshman Sophie Hryzan (Lakeville, Mass.) placed third in the 200 backstroke (2:30.76), while sophomore Jacquelyn Peterson (Beverly, Mass.) posted fourth and fifth-place performances in the 200 butterfly (2:44.85) and 500-freestyle (6:06.81).
Freshman Megan Empie (Delmar, N.Y.) followed Peterson in the 200-butterfly, finishing fifth in 2:55.65, while also registering a fifth-place effort in 100-butterfly (1:15.41).
Western New England will have over a month off, before returning to action on January 13th at Elms College.
