DARTMOUTH, Mass. - The Western New England University women's cross country team ended up in 28th place Saturday at the 42-team UMass-Dartmouth Invitational, which covered 5 kilometers. The Golden Bears tallied 746 points.

Leading the way for the Golden Bears again was sophomore Kathleen Silveira who finished in 20 minutes and 55.65 seconds for 130th out of 315 competitors. Freshman Meagan Dias (20:58.8, 134th), senior Hailie Laviolette (21:48.86, 183rd), junior Amy Grindle (21:53.18, 186th), and freshman Kaitlin Armstrong (22:03.28, 195th) also figured into the team's scoring.

Allison Decker of East Stroudsburg won the individual race, finishing with a time of 17 minutes, 40 seconds. Brandeis University won the meet with a total of 49 points, followed by East Stroudsburg (79) and Connecticut College (80).

Western New England next races on Saturday the 26th at the Worcester City Meet hosted by Worcester State University at Moore State Park in Paxton.
